pressure for jake

so summer is here! pretty much — in Houston we have summer and post summer – which is like 100 degrees.  Sports are in full swing w/Austin and Jake… and it’s getting pretty competitive and fun… here’s a situation where the team needs a catcher – which has to be Jake…he of course, would rather pitch.

If you do it to yourself

Wow. I can’t believe how quickly I can change an opinion of somebody. I can really let it fly when frustrations run high. That said,I don’t think that I’m wrong entirely. Yes, I can communicate differently, and yes I have a lot to improve upon… but when you claim and pretend and put up a facade to your supposed closest friends…then go and prove yourself to be no better than the ultimate liar… I think you deserve the hole that you dug. DON’T WASTE PEOPLE’S TIME! If you want to fart around on your time, do it…but don’t mess with other people. Blah, I’m not a fan of even more people…. would it be the ultimate thing to unfriend?

Baseball – Basketball Season

So… It’s really awesome to heart that Jake likes to play with his friends in neighborhood ball and can pretty much do without the craziness of parents who seriously think their child is some kind of prodigy. Both Austin and Jake have been recruited for years by “select” teams – the ones that go to LLWS, and their interests in ALL sports has definitely prevented them from pursuing it, but here it comes…

Jake is recruited by a teammate from this neighborhood league through a third party that knows him… I keep in mind that he’s playing already with kids a year older, but I can’t help but to really want to see him succeed at this level – not his age. So I guess gone are my free weekends – but hello sore throats and big plays.

deeply saddened

I’m so deeply saddened at the response to tragedy. why is it that people look out for themselves first? I can’t even imagine the inability to see another’s situation before i look at mine – I’m so thankful to God for that. May busyness never supersede a real heart for people. for those of you that don’t get it, I for 1 will never ask you to… but please, leave my life. My dearest friends lost everything in this fire, and I can’t believe what has or hasn’t come from people who know them and me. They have a better attitude than I do of course, b/c I’m so deeply disappointed – I’d rather not even talk to people. I mean, I’ve been witness to these guys ‘showing up’ in others’ time of need, but in theirs, it’s a freakin’ ghost town. I’m sorry that things aren’t convenient for you.

I remember a time when people claimed to ‘have your back’ – this really makes me wonder who really has mine. I can’t really say all the profanities I can’t stop myself from thinking – so that’s it, I’m outtie. If you don’t hear from me, it’s b/c I simply don’t want to see or talk to you.

Champs

So the game was really close – and yes I’m late writing about it…but there were a few things I’ll really remember about this Broncos championship team.

  1. The coaching: the kids were very disciplined for 8 year olds. They knew where they were supposed to be – even if they made a mistake. The coaches demanded excellence: on and off the field.
  2. The parents – albeit a biased opinion – I saw them cheering for the kids, but never down on the other team or barking at officiating (at least not for too long)… The TB opponents on the other (booooooooo!)
  3. The pureness and effort these kids made – not about a contract, but truly about doing your best. — PROUD TO BE —
  4. The transformation: after the game – these kids are 8, and they’re off the gridiron and back to playful boys.
  5. Plays like [this] – enough said
