Champs

So the game was really close – and yes I’m late writing about it…but there were a few things I’ll really remember about this Broncos championship team.

  1. The coaching: the kids were very disciplined for 8 year olds. They knew where they were supposed to be – even if they made a mistake. The coaches demanded excellence: on and off the field.
  2. The parents – albeit a biased opinion – I saw them cheering for the kids, but never down on the other team or barking at officiating (at least not for too long)… The TB opponents on the other (booooooooo!)
  3. The pureness and effort these kids made – not about a contract, but truly about doing your best. — PROUD TO BE —
  4. The transformation: after the game – these kids are 8, and they’re off the gridiron and back to playful boys.
  5. Plays like [this] – enough said

Welcome FOOTBALL

In honor or 9/11… I didn’t worry myself with fantasy football. The real football was such a treat instead. Jake’s team won; the Longhorns won, and the Texans won too…

The thing is… My FF team is battered and bruised… Matt the fumble Ryan and Mr. Contract Chris Johnson were my disappointments – while Stephen Jackson and Mate Kaeding were injured. Seriously? 2 carries and a kicker? Boo! Austin Collie was also at WR…. Which is a move I would have changed if FF was not “forgotten” for 9/11.  During the ceremony at ground zero, a fallen first responder was a cowboys fan…so I didn’t mind them winning-which they managed not to do. Still, it was a game that I wanted both teams to lose… I’d much rather tolerate a Dallas win over a NYJ one.

The weekend was dominated also by work…the most stubborn server that proved to be victorious this morning…I will be back on you this coming weekend…and I won’t be denied.

What stops you?

What stops you from being great? My hope is that if you are merely trying to be GOOD at something to be good at it or to draw attention to yourself, then you should stop trying to be great. Now more than ever I want to feel empowered to do great things. Things that are beyond what anybody can do on their own. To make a real change and difference for people who need hope, trust, or love.  I know that I’m not exactly a shining example, but my hope is that despite me, God will make great things happen. I challenge myself…

Think about what I can do for others that are close to me.
Do them.
Consider the people far away that also need help.
Help them.
Make it known only that there is a need, and hope and pray for the unlikely to happen.
